Kitchens, Office, and Bath
Function, Flow, and Busy Places We Love to Be In

When intelligent design, cabinetry and woodwork resonate with you and your home, when it inspires you, when it works tirelessly and has the capacity to respond as planned to every situation, you now you've built it right.

The kitchen, often the heart of a home, must gracefully accommodate a vast array of needs throughout the course of the seasons, and careful planning assures that it does just that.

The rooms we work in, cook in, and pamper ourselves in must not only resonate aesthetically with the rest of the home, they must be supremely functional and efficient.

We work closely with our clientele to determine exactly what will dovetail to their unique needs, whether it is the kitchen, the office, or the bath.

Sit down with us and find out what truly custom planning and cabinetry can be for you. Click here to see some examples in our Gallery section.

Artisan Furniture
Bench Crafted One at a Time

We are passionate about fine joinery, sensitive matching of grains, the sensuous line; all a pleasure to the eye and the touch. When we build furniture, we are unapologetically fanatic, with inspired designs that are respectful to the craft and to the wonderful woods we use. We hand-select every piece of wood according to its purpose. Wood grains are chosen for their visual contribution as well as their structural integrity, with joinery that's appropriate to the need. The art of fine woodworking with a focus on personalization is the result of exacting attention to your personal needs.

We build highly customized furniture as well as limited editions and one-of-a-kind pieces. Contact us for availability. You can see some of these extraordinary pieces on exhibit at RiverSea Gallery in Astoria, OR. Click here to see some examples in our Gallery section.

Historic Preservation
Restoring, Preserving, and Adapting. Such is Life.

Closely tied with the preservation community, Overbay Houseworks is fluent in the language and process of restoration and preservation, no matter the home's age or pedigree. As a vintage homeowner, you understand that many of the things we require of our homes these days simply weren't on the drawing board a hundred years ago.

It is essential that when we go about adapting a vintage home to contemporary needs that we preserve and enhance the intrinsic architecture, character, and thus the value of the home.

Ed Overbay, along with Architect Jay Raskin and historian John Goodenburger, were instrumental in the initial visioning and inception of the Historic Preservation Department at Clatsop Community College.

Also at the grass roots level of the Columbia Pacific Preservation Guild, Ed works with Guild member craftsmen, as well as craftsmen of all callings throughout the northwest.
